Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role based in Tampa, FL, with flexibility for some remote work. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial strategy, capital management, regulatory financial oversight, and long-term financial health of the organization. The CFO will lead all finance, accounting, treasury, tax, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and reporting functions while partnering closely with business leaders to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
This executive will play a critical role in shaping the company's future, ensuring financial strength, supporting strategic initiatives, and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, reinsurers, auditors, banking partners, and the Board of Directors.
In addition, the CFO will lead the continued modernization of the finance organization, including the evaluation and implementation of scalable financial systems, advanced reporting capabilities, and technology-driven process improvements that support the company's growth.
What You'll Lead
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with organizational goals and growth objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors on financial and strategic matters.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions, capital allocation, and long-term planning.
- Evaluate opportunities for growth, expansion, partnerships, and new business initiatives.
- Help drive enterprise-wide performance management and accountability.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Develop key performance indicators and reporting frameworks to monitor financial and operational performance.
- Provide timely analysis of financial results, trends, profitability, and capital utilization.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, efficiency, and scalability.
- Deliver executive-level reporting and presentations to senior leadership and the Board.
Capital Management & Treasury
- Oversee treasury operations, liquidity management, and investment strategies.
- Ensure adequate capital resources to support growth and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor surplus, risk-based capital, and other key financial strength metrics.
- Lead relationships with banking institutions, investment advisors, and financing partners.
- Evaluate and execute capital management strategies that optimize financial flexibility and returns.
Insurance Finance & Regulatory Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of statutory and GAAP financial reporting functions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable insurance regulatory, financial, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with regulatory agencies, auditors, actuaries, and external advisors as needed.
- Support rate filings, strategic reinsurance decisions, and capital planning initiatives.
- Monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks impacting the organization.
Reinsurance & Risk Management
- Collaborate with executive leadership on reinsurance strategy and program structure.
- Evaluate the financial impact of reinsurance arrangements and risk transfer opportunities.
- Support enterprise risk management initiatives and financial stress testing.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and monitoring processes are in place.
- Provide leadership during catastrophe events and other significant business disruptions.
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
- Provide strategic oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, and close processes.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of financial data and reporting.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and corporate governance framework.
- Oversee annual audits, tax compliance, and regulatory examinations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
Finance Technology & Transformation
- Champion modernization of financial systems, reporting platforms, and data infrastructure.
- Lead major finance transformation initiatives, including ERP and general ledger implementations.
- Leverage automation and analytics to improve decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Foster strong collaboration between Finance, IT, and operational teams.
- Build a scalable finance organization capable of supporting rapid growth.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance and accounting teams.
- Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top financial talent.
- Establish succession planning and professional development programs across the finance organization.
- Promote a strategic, business-oriented mindset throughout the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including senior executive responsibilities.
- Proven experience leading finance and accounting functions within the insurance industry.
- Deep understanding of statutory accounting principles (SAP), GAAP reporting, insurance regulation, and financial controls.
- Experience working with Boards of Directors, regulators, auditors, reinsurers, and investors.
- Strong business acumen with exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
